Then around 4 PM, the warm front came through and temperatures soared to 70 degrees and dew points skyrocketed by 5 PM. You guessed it; jet fuel for super cell thunderstorms! T-storms erupted ahead of the cold front and moved in from the southwest out of Iowa and Illinois around 6 PM. From 6-7 PM, two separate tornado warnings were issued for my vicinity. No wind damage at my location but torrential rain and pea to marble sized hail occurred for 3 minutes around 6:15 PM. Heard reports of substantial hail in downtown Janesville. The storms raced off to the northeast and by 7:20 PM, as the sun began to set, a large rainbow formed like a giant archway into heaven. Very fitting for Easter Holy week. |
