I was able to finally take a measurement of the snowpack depth. I used a yardstick in the gauged-out area that provided the initial melted precipitation. There was only a little of the "granulated weather" in the bottom. I scraped that away so I could put the yardstick on solid ground. The snowcrete continues to have a grip on our area. I will continue to use that space for future reference, until we can punch down into the snow with something other than a shingle scraper or a blowtorch.
