It looks like we got about 1 cm. of ice pellets overnight. I tried lifting the gauge from its holder, but it's frozen solid, and I ended up hoisting it together with the pole out of the ground. It's now inside the house waiting to thaw. I'll update the melt water amount after it completes thawing.
The 1 cm. of ice pellets was on top of a layer of frozen rain of unknown depth.
Edit: I got a butter knife to measure the depth in the driveway, and it was 0.75, not 0.5 inch, so I guess 0.25 of ice is on the lowest layer on the roof of my car.
