So after my waIk (which ended in a downpour) I used the funnel and poured the water into the small tube, and straightened the post as best I could. But this morning when I took the measurement, it said only .16, while my digital gauge, which is usually *under* the actual, said .22. I did notice a drop of water at the bottom of the small tube and thought it might be from the tube sitting in water, and considered trying to catch it back into the tube somehow, before I shook it off. But before I drained the tube, I saw another drop gather, and then another, and realized the tube has a leak in the bottom. Thankfully I still have a tube from an old gauge, so I've swapped it out. I did check the map, and there are other similar readings nearby, so it could still be fairly accurate. Just not perfectly. I will try to mend the leaky gauge, but for now it should be good with the old tube. |

It was pretty calm and after the rain that was recorded in yesterday's catch, pretty calm until just after noon, when it started getting blustery and wet. Wind gusted up to 16 mph, and we got nealy 4/10ths of an inch by 1pm. Then there was a break between 2 and 3, conveniently when I took my walk. The ground in the woods was quite wet, and there were (not surprisingly) plenty of puddles, but the river didn't look much higher than it has been. Rain began again not long after we returned, and there was that particular look of snow mixed in with the rain. Very wet, no chance of accumulating. A couple of fairly intense showers fell between 4:30-9pm, then another break until after midnight, when we had a bit more rain to add to today's catch. |
