| 2026-01-14 | 7:00 AM | 0.00 | 0.0 | NA | NA | NA | | Mild. Snow half gone in our yard. Big patches of actual green grass. Temperature 32. No birds or squirrels yet. We’ve had mice gnawing on our house underneath. My husband discovered that blowing a high-pitched dog whistle down to the floor above where the chewing was happening made the mouse stop and desist. It’s still there, because maybe a few days later it will try again. Stops each time with the dog whistle.
Partly cloudy. |
| 2026-01-04 | 7:00 AM | 0.02 | 0.1 | NA | NA | NA | | Extremely icy. This will be my last report for the season. Was snowing lightly at time of measurement. We had a small snowfall yesterday around 10:30 AM. Only a trace for that, but the official report for the area was that no snow fell. We did have snow.
Later! |
| 2026-01-03 | 7:00 AM | 0.00 | 0.0 | NA | NA | NA | | Ice on outside of gauge. Extremely icy outside on ground where the snow was removed. Sand helps.
Lots of birds and about 2-5 squirrels like the bird feeder. The squirrels jump up high enough to knock off some seeds. Years ago a squirrel got caught inside the feeder. A cat looking up at the feeder brought predicament to light. The squirrel was stunned so my husband got it out, laid it on the ground and covered it with an old litter box. The squirrel revived. Never tried to get inside the feeder again. This time, we brought the feeder inside making the squirrel go crazy because there was no food. There are lots of acorns under the snow that covers the whole yard. |
| 2026-01-02 | 7:00 AM | 0.00 | 0.0 | NA | NA | NA | | 10 degrees here. 2 at Concord Airport. Smells like diesel. Yuck. Still quite icy. Treacherous. It’s easier to walk on the crunchy snow.
Birds are out. Squirrels have learned to jump at the bird feeder to knock the seeds off. |
