It took us two warm days, and 6 hours or ice breaking and tractor work to free our driveway from it's death grip. 1-3 inches of ice!!!! Today, is the first day I have been able to get out to measure the snow and still, it was very rough going. The cylinder was unable to punch through the 3/4 ice sheath to get to the 12+ inches below... So I had to get medieval with the handle of my solid steel spatula (so not to compress the snow).. it's also taking 4 in of hot water to melt the cylinder contents! I had the pleasure of falling into a relative crevasse in my own yard over the weekend where the snow had collapsed under a frozen ice wave. Very painful to the knees. Otherwise we still have complete coverage on the ground, and still close to a foot of Frozen snow on all the roofs, but there is quite a bit of melt starting. I have noticed many gutters are being ripped off of houses right now. |
