At the bottom was ice frozen to the board amounting to perhaps 0.1-0.2 inches. At the top was a layer of cosolidated ice pellets of around 0.2 inches. In between was a layer of ice pellets and snow flakes of around another 0.2 inches. I was not able to get a competent core sample. |

| 2026-02-24 | 7:00 AM | NA | NA | NA | NA | NA | | Howling winds have made measurement meaningless. The snowboard was windswept down to about 2-1/2 inches of snow and the gauge was only about half full. The SWE in the gauge was 0.57, for what that's worth. Taking several measurements over what had been bare pavement before the storm and in an area with minimal drifting gave an average depth of 10.7 inches. The SWE for the core was 1.64, but that was for the whole storm, not the 24 previous hours. Subtracting yesterday's totals gives 3.0 snowfall and SWE of 0.04 and that doesn't make any sense. But I'm too old and decrepit to mush around the neighborhood lawns trying for more meaningful readings. Sorry. |
