The rain continued and assimilated as another cell moved through. At about 8:30 AM the rain picked up to a heavy anomalous condition where it was falling at over a half inch a minute. Empty 5 Gallon pails that were placed on the porch to catch water that runs off the roof into them were filled to overflowing in under 3 minutes. After 5 min rainfall tapered back to a regular downpour where you get .1 inches per minute. The majority of the rain fell in a 3 minute period. Yards were flooded with water up to the rims on car wheels. 10 Acre Lakes developed in the fields around this area. The extreme rain impact extends nearly all the way north past Thornton almost to Mason City. Runoff water even began leaking through the NE rock wall of the basement. That is highly unusual. Water never enters the basement unless over 5 inches comes down over several days. |
