The rain immediately filled the ditch in front of my home and it spilled out on the yard as it raced down to the ditch along the CPKC railroad and under through a culvert on the other side of the tracks. Water also ran in a river from the front of my hous30e to the septic system (sealed tight) and then down to the railroad line. Most of the rest o the property which is clayey soil had standing water for about an hour after the rain stopped. |

Switched out the rain gauge to large cylinder at 1515 and snow grains fell after that, followed in 30 minutes by fluffy snow flakes. Snow with varying sized flakes continuted until in the night when intervals of clear skies were noted this morning during reading. Because of the wind, only 0.03 inches of snow water equivalent was recorded in the large cylinder. Wind kept the large cylinder swept clean. Wayne County to my west and my county and all further east had the blizzard warning extended until 1000. Roads were snow covered and travel was not recommended in my part of the state. Visibility was less than 1/4 sm for most of the day. Unable to see the roads but had 3 foot plus drifts around my house. 2 inches measured on my snow board. Frontal passage was interesting. At 0915, the temperature was 55. In 40 minutes, it dropped to 43 and then more slowly backed down to 33 at 1515 when snow grains appeared. Continued to fall through the night with a low of 8. |
