Essentially weather predictions were right on the money as to timing. At 1224 on 6/17/25 sky to WNW AND NNE looking ominous and nasty. At 1329 thunder begins and at 1339 rain begins lughtly at first. At 1407 wind picks up by 1412 so dark in the house even with shades/curtains open had to turn on the lights. 1415 peasized hail begins with some accumulation; 1420 Hail diminishing;1424 wind is incredible—we are used to 25-40 mph winds here so guesstimating 50-60 mph sustained winds with driving rain, rain overrunning gutters, reduced visibility—almost looks foggy; thunder on constant low rumble and pouring rain make for quite the din. Our dog “meteorologist” has concluded time to take cover in his bookcase nook although he has been “worrying” before; 1435 rain and thunder diminishing ; 1501 still lightly raining can see that rain gauge has 1.0 inch with spillover. By 1512 dog weatherindicator has pulled his head out from under the bed and is relaxed . Whew what an eventful 90 minutes. Glad it’s over |

Rain started at 1900 4/18/25 by 1950 snow was literally a blizzard of peasize snowballs. They almost looked like hailstones but were not ice balls and compressible like styrofoam as described earlier. In taking the ground SWE 1/4” light snow on top but actually had to push down on gauge hard to make it go the remaining 1/4”. Very strange consistency of snow as noted. |
