Then about mid-afternoon a good t-storm k came over and some pea-sized hail dumped from it along with rain. We don’t have a hail pad set up. I don’t think it rained overnight, but the dew this morning was so heavy it looked as if it had rained. |

Then it rainved overnight, but I don’t know when, and it was even sprinkling on and off after I got up this morning by 6:15. It wasn’t raining when I checked the gauge at 8:00am this morning, but I could tell more was coming. |

I think it was from extraordinarily heavy dew and fog overnight. When I awoke at 7:00am, there was a fog so dense that I could barely see our hard and everything was drenched as if it had rained. To have had measurable precipitation from dew/fog in this arid climate is amazing! |

| 2025-04-19 | 8:00 AM | 0.06 | 0.3 | 0.03 | 1.3 | 0.22 | | After checking the gauge yesterday morning, it started again with a very wet snow rain mix shortly thereafter and was coming down in greater earnest by about 9:00m or so. Then is sputtered on and off most of the day with very light wet snow or rain. Then it picked up at about 3:30 or 4:00pm and snowed harder for an hour or so until about dinner time, then tapered off to a lighter wet snow until sometime around nightfall. I don’t think much or any more fell during the night. When I measured new snowfall and “snowpack” this morning, I’m sure they don’t reflect all the water that fell, as just about all of it had melted away. However, on my snowboard, there was new accumulation and residual snowpack, although given that much of yesterday wasn’t terribly windy, the gauge likely has the best measure of water that fell over the last 24 hrs. |
| 2025-04-18 | 8:00 AM | 0.26 | 2.3 | 0.26 | 2.3 | 0.26 | | It began to rain at about 4:30pm yesterday with huge gusts of wind (40mph?) in what was a massive squall that turned into sleet and rain that lasted over a half hour before it tapered off. I had assumed that the water runoff from that episode would not not reflected in the snow board core SWE this morning, but surprisingly the SWE was the same in the gauge and the board core this morning, so I’m guessing that the squall water and sleet must have been blown right past the opening of the gauge OR a lot less water came from that squall than it seemed (I believe the water from the squall would have been measurable). Then the precip stalled a while before starting again slowly on and off around 6:00-6:30pm, and it rained on an off until dark, after which we weren’t sure what it was doing. When we went to bed at about 11:00pm, however, a bit of snow had accumulated on our deck, so I checked real-time RAP radar and it seems that it snowed or rained on and off all night, with the heaviest band of snow/rain falling from roughly 4:00-7:00am; it was not snowing (well, a flake or two drifted by now and again) when I got up this morning at about 7:45am. So good to see more than a quarter inch of water in the gauge, with hopefully a lot more water to come if today is the bigger snow day! |

Then it didn’t rain again until about 7:00pm, and this time the deck got wet, but that was it. I checked the gauge at 5:0m and there wasn’t even enough rain in there to measure up to 0.01”, and this morning there was no additional catch. What a grand disappointment! We are ready drying out here again! |

| 2025-04-05 | 7:00 AM | 0.07 | 0.3 | 0.02 | 0.3 | 0.02 | | The time of precipitation ended is false because it was actually precipitating only on and off through the last 24 hours. It began snowing yesterday quite heavily with big flakes at about 7:45am and it lasted over an hour and a half. About 1/2” of snow accumulated, but with above freezing temps, by noon it was all gone, despite that it continued to snow a much finer and lighter snow on and off until about 11:45am. I did not take a core or snowpack SWE measurement because it had all disappeared. Then this morning, probably between roughly 4am (based on radar) to about 7:00 am, it snowed again very lightly on and off. The resulting accumulation was barely covering things at about 0.25 inch. A few stray flakes were still falling at 7:00 when I checked the gauge and continued to fall after I checked the gauge at 7:00am. Whatever fell between 7:00am and noon yesterday amounted to 0.02” of water in the gauge, and the melted water in the gauge this morning was 0.05”, so the total 24 hr precip from 7:am yesterday to 7:00am today was 0.07” of water. |
| 2025-04-04 | 7:00 AM | 0.01 | NA | NA | NA | NA | | I changed my regular gage check in time because aI had checked it at about 7:15 am thinking no more precip would fall be fore my regular check of 8:00 a.m., but then it began snowing in earnest at about 7:45 a.m.! So, to avoid the complications that this wou,d present entering data for this split across the day with rain one day then snow the next, I decided to switch times. And will do the same tomorrow. I may switch times for the long run through summer, as I am likely to be up earlier on summer. I was not home all afternoon yesterday, but spouse said it was starting to mist when he got home at 2:30, then it spat on and off with drizzle, sprinkle, and some semi-solid precip on and off through much of the afternoon and apparently at some point in the latter part of the evening. It never amounted to much of anything, unfortunately! |

It was still raining when I went to bed at about 11:45pm, but much more lightly by then. It must have rained on and off all night and was still misting when I checked the gage this morning, so it hasn’t really stopped yet. It also apparently snowed sometime before I got up at 7:45am because there was semi-solid water on the deck and snow in a few spots, including the top of our roof, on our metal fit pit, one spot on the grass, and on my cold frame glass. But that was it, no place enough to take a measurement. The few places of snow seemed to be melting quickly; the temp at 8:00am is 36 degrees F. Because it was still raining very very lightly when I checked the gage, I will indicate rain stopped at 8:00am but tomorrow will say it started at 8:00am so it is recorded as continuous. |

It must have blown snow hard for a minute, but that’s it. Not sure when it happened, sometime in the night. Based on radar, it was not anything within the last 2-3 hours, so I assumed sometime after midnight. Not even enough snow to capture anything in the gage (but because there was a trace of snow on the ground, the app forced me to record a trace in the gage) or collect a SWE measurement. I’m not even sure it was snowfall versus a very heavy freezing fog. It has become a nightmare toconsider snowpack depth because of such small snowfalls lately and uneven melting/sublimation/drifting. I give up on that. Then only place where I feel snowpack depth is more reliable is on our north facing and fully shaded deck, but we have to keep that shoveled to protect the wood from melt freeze thaw damage. |

It wasn’t clear when exactly it stopped, but it must have become heavier sometime in the earlier part of the evening. It was very difficult to figure out when it stopped, as it may have tapered to make it very hard to see whether it was snowing. But, it did seem that the majority of accumulation happened before midnight. |

It apparently fell heaviest shortly after dark, as it seemed as covering by 10:00pm as it was when we got up this morning. But really unsure when it ended. Snowfall times best guesses. It may have flurried lightly on and off after 8:00 or 9:00pm. |

| 2025-01-08 | 8:00 AM | NA | T | NA | NA | NA | | Nothing in the gage, likely due to wind driven flurry not having a chance to land in the gage, but clearly a flurry of snow blew into cracks and crevices and a tiny bit on the grass sometime before light, not sure when, but nowhere enough to get a core sample, and what was left of yesterday’s snow was very patchy. |
| 2025-01-07 | 8:00 AM | 0.10 | 1.5 | 0.10 | 1.5 | 0.10 | | A very light snow started at about 7:00 or 8:00 pm and fell on and off until about midnight, when we went to bed and only 1/2” had fallen. So, the majority of the 1.5” fell while we slept. When I got up at about 7:30, it was still snowing so lightly I could hardly tell any way falling. It seems to be very fluffy and dry snow. Hardly any water content. The snow stopped briefly from about 8:30-9:10, at which point it started again, slightly heavier. I will make note of this in tomorrow’s record. |
