As I sat at the computer to enter the Hail Report about 9:38 pm, the power to this area was lost due to a lightning strike, and remained off until about 2:10 am. A summary after the fact: stone size was 1/8" to 1/2" with an average about 1/4". Hail fall was continuous, with more rain than hail. Stones were mixed hardness, white ice, and started after the rain. Largest hail started before the smaller hail. Only minor leaf damage was noted. This morning the hail still covered the ground to a depth of about 0.8". After this storm passed, at least two more lightning storms passed close by. Morning is bright and sunny again. |
